In Millstone, N.J, someone cared enough to rescue over 100 animals during the flood crisis in Somerset County, New Jersey resulting from Tropical Storm Floyd. That person was Lorraine Zdeb. Lorraine provided temporary shelter for these animals until their owners could pick them up. If Lorraine had not done this, these animals would have been homeless. Pet shelters in the area were over run already. To make matters worse, the Mayor of Bourough, N.J. issued a violation to Lorraine for violating zoning laws or operating a temporary animal shelter. The ticket carried a $1000.00 fine. This was done because of her neighbors complaints to the local zoning board. The Mayor said she had to enforce the law. Come on...give me a break. Here is a woman opening up her home temporarily to homeless animals and here you have a the typical bureaucrat trying to make a name for herself and a bunch of careless neighbors complaining about this. What is ironic, one of the neighbors has pets of their own? Now go figure that one!

In any case Lorraine, you deserve my Angel Award for being a human which evidently several in your community could take lessons from you. Keep up the great work! We need more people like you and less like your neighbors and the Mayor of the Borough that issued you that idiotic summons and ticket.
